Michica N. Guillory is a woman who knows how to roll with the punches! Holding a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston in Journalism, Michica spent 13 years as an award-winning print journalist. She served on the boards of the Houston Society of Professional Journalists and the Press Club of Houston, and she wrote for regional and local publications including the Lubbock-Avalanche Journal, The Houston Post, Viva Magazine and The Houston Defender Newspaper.
But when 24-hour cable television news channels, the Internet and cellular devices gave the world instant access to news, newspapers lessened in popularity and it was time to find another career. In an unexpected career twist, Michica transitioned out of journalism and into real estate as a marketing manager for a local mall. She quickly learned that one cannot market a mall without learning a little something about operating the mall building itself.
Fifteen years later, Michica has been a fixture in commercial real estate managing a variety of properties including office buildings, malls, business parks and warehouses. But that’s not all. Michica also works as a residential REALTOR®, helping her clients find their dream homes or sell their homes for top dollar.
Today, Michica owns a successful residential brokerage called The Guillory Group Real Estate Firm, focusing primarily in west Houston. She also owns The Guillory Group School of Real Estate, a company dedicated to teaching the "basics and beyond" of a commercial lease transaction.
And she’s a tremendous advocate of community service. She has served on the board of the local chapter of the NAACP, served several years as a Black History Month scholarship judge for Coca~Cola, moderated community events for the March of Dimes, built homes with the Habitat for Humanity, babysat for a local "Mom's Day Out" program for mother's with physically and mentally disabled children, served as a committee member for 6 years with The Thanksgiving Houston SuperFeast and is currently in her 4th year as a rodeo Committeeman serving on the Recycling Committee and as a scholarship judge. Additionally, she has worked for 18 years with the Texas Executive Women’s girls’ outreach and mentoring programs in Alief ISD and Aldine ISD called “Ladies of Distinction” and “Ladies of Excellence.”
