Jorge’s 25+ years of corporate leadership have cultivated strong competencies in adapting business practice to diversified cultural and macro-economic environments while developing strategic alliances and accommodating engineering, production, marketing and selling tactics for manufacturing and processing lines, products and services. Jorge specializes on commercial investments and trade in the construction and building; electromechanical, electrical and metal-mechanics industries.
Forthcoming and insightful, Jorge sustains a broad network of wholesalers, manufacturers and investors, independent contractors and trade associations throughout the Latin American region. His professional relationships reach over private and government organizations at Federal and regional levels in the U.S. and abroad. Relentless and envisioning, Jorge has repeatedly defeated competitors’ presence as well as low-cost, currency exchange, and trade tariff barriers by joint venturing with associates, conveying long-term product cost-effectiveness and developing intensive technical instruction for sales representatives and business partners.
All through eleven consecutive years Jorge entirely led sales and marketing efforts to position Firestone Building Products’ (FBP) advanced roofing systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. Amongst his most remarkable achievements count the reaching of 80% market share for Single Ply products in Mexico; the entering into vast, highly competitive Brazilian markets with the consequent reach of Mercosur, along with the successful construction in Venezuela of the first-ever FBP’s strategic alliance to manufacture outside the U.S.
Before joining Firestone Building Products and during eighteen years Jorge had managed international sales for Unitex Technologies Corp., a family-owned metal-based products, machinery and processing lines dealer, and for Gavlick Machinery Corp., a 50-year old worldwide broker of ferrous and non-ferrous machinery and complete lines for the metal industries.
Jorge Valdes has been granted public awards for his business and community outreach in the U.S. He has actively participated in a number of trade shows in the Americas and Europe. Additionally, Jorge has engaged into lecturing about construction and building new technologies in major trade events in Mexico, Central and South America.
As en Electrical Engineer (B.S.E.E.) graduated from the City University of New York (CUNY), Jorge earned a Masters Degree in International Business, Marketing and Finance (M.B.A.) at Fordham University in New York. He is currently pursuing the LEED Professional Certification-the worldwide leading Green Building Rating System aligning building and communities to be environmentally responsible, energy sustainable and efficient. Jorge is proficient in Spanish, English and Portuguese, and holds good knowledge of Italian.
