Spent most of my adult life living in Vancouver Washington and went to Vancouver schools. My family was business orientated my father being a commercial general contractor and my mother a real estate broker. My first job in 1953 was clean up kid was at the present Mill Plain elementary school which still stands in back of the target store on 164thstaand Mill Plain. I went through the five year carpenter apprentice program and became a journeyman carpenter. I took the Raines of White Construction Co. Inc. in 1968. We built schools, restaurants, steel buildings, remolded buildings up and down Main Street in down town Vancouver. There are several projects that are readily recognizable the Clark County maintenance shop on 78th Street, The Marine Park off highway 14 and the truck scales on I-5 just north of Ridgefield.
I was diagnosed with MS in 1988 this ended my contracting career. After recovering from the initial on set I was hired by Freedom Modular Homes. With in one year I was promoted to Vice President In1989 After they went out of business I went in to the restaurant business with two Chinese’s gentlemen. The business was located in West Lynn Oregon (The Oriental Express). Then one of the partners and my self added several new partners and opened a Chinese grocery store at 82nd and Main Street in Portland Oregon. In all of these ventures my contribution was to get the new businesses up and running.
I passed the real estate exam in January of 1992 and went to work for Century 21 Expert Realty I soon found my self leaning to the commercial side of the business. I immediately found that I could use my contracting and negotiating experience to save my clients time and money.
